Job description
Tesla's Supplier Industrialization team is seeking an experienced engineer to oversee component development and qualification activities at suppliers. The role involves collaboration with internal and external teams, critical decision-making, and travel to various supplier locations to ensure high-quality components are delivered on time for production processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering experience
- Experience in Quality Systems such as PPAP/APQP processes is a plus
- In-depth knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and inspection
- Strong technical writing ability and familiarity with SPC and data analysis
- Ability to communicate and direct supplier activities at the management level
- Average of 30 - 40% travel, possibly on short notice
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, direct, and conduct industrialization related activities within the supply chain team
- Develop, manage, audit, improve and correct supplier planning and execution of component manufacturing and assembly techniques
- Provide leadership for New Product Introduction (NPI) at Suppliers and lead supplier improvements in scalability, cost, and quality
- Facilitate communication and clarification of technical requirements between Suppliers and Tesla teams
- Accountable for supplier audits to ensure their ability to meet part performance, delivery, and reliability expectations
- Collaborate with Tesla Design, Quality, and Manufacturing to determine ideal performance specifications and supplier metrics
- Guide suppliers in developing robust processes and procedures for high-quality production
- Validate supplier corrective actions involving design and/or process changes
