Job description
Tesla Energy is seeking a product engineer to manage the product lifecycle for residential energy systems. This role involves diagnosing hardware issues, analyzing telemetry data, and implementing corrective actions to enhance product performance. The position requires hands-on troubleshooting and collaboration with engineering teams, with a focus on leveraging AI tools for diagnostics.
Requirements
- Degree in an engineering discipline or computer science (electrical engineering strongly preferred) or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years of role-relevant practical work experience
- Proven hands-on experience using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other electrical test equipment to troubleshoot and debug hardware
- Strong analytics skills, proficient in SQL and Python for analyzing large-scale datasets
- Experience with AI/LLM tooling in engineering workflows
- Experience leading or participating in 8D or similar failure analysis processes
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce clear and concise written instructions
Responsibilities
- Lead Field & Fleet Diagnostics: Investigate complex product issues using electrical debugging tools
- Own Product Quality from Data to Action: Define data signatures and develop SQL/Python queries on fleet logs
- Drive End-to-End Corrective Actions: Translate root cause findings into firmware changes and process improvements
- Produce Executive-Level Technical Reports: Author reports summarizing trends and fleet health
- Leverage AI & LLM Tooling: Use AI-powered tools to accelerate code generation and diagnostics
- Support Escalations: Provide Tier 3 engineering support for safety-critical issues
