Job description
The Commissioning Electrical Engineer is responsible for planning and executing electrical commissioning activities for Medium Voltage systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and project specifications. This role involves providing technical expertise and support throughout the commissioning process while collaborating closely with the Electrical Commissioning Superintendent and Project Manager.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum of 7 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer, preferably with commissioning and Medium Voltage system experience
- Strong working knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC) and NETA testing standards
- Very strong understanding of NFPA 70E standards and electrical safety requirements
- Hands-on experience with switchgear, panelboards, and other commercial electrical installations
- Proficiency in troubleshooting 480V and 4160V electrical systems
- Understanding of electrical protection relays and protection schemes
- Strong organizational skills for managing daily work, documentation, and technical reporting
- Familiarity with commissioning management tools such as CxAlloy, WinPCS, or similar web-based systems
- Experience in Electrical Design Engineering is a plus
Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate MV energization activities, including vendor meetings and equipment inspections
- Monitor construction progress to support upcoming commissioning activities
- Assist with functional testing and troubleshooting of MV electrical equipment
- Complete, organize, and maintain commissioning documentation
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of commissioning processes and documentation standards
- Evaluate parameters and protective settings to verify functional integrity
- Participate in design reviews and review electrical drawings
