Job description

Netflix is seeking an Ads Reliability Engineer to ensure the stability and scalability of its Ads business. The role involves designing reliable infrastructure, collaborating with teams, and proactively identifying system instabilities to enhance the Netflix Ad Suite.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), Production Engineer, or similar role supporting business-critical, high-traffic services.
  • Proficient in one or more programming languages like Python, Go, or Java.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud providers such as AWS/Azure/GCP and Infrastructure as Code like Terraform.
  • Experience with container orchestration systems like Kubernetes.
  • Understanding of large-scale distributed systems and their common failure modes.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships with engineering partners.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Growth mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable and reliable infrastructure to support Netflix Ads Suite.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to integrate observability, reliability, and security considerations into the software development lifecycle.
  • Coordinate capacity planning for Dynamic Ad Insertion for global-scale Netflix Live streaming.
  • Develop and implement automation tools for monitoring, deployment, and incident response.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to ensure the 24/7 health of the Netflix Ad Suite.
  • Implement and maintain a robust incident response framework.
  • Proactively identify sources of instability in distributed systems.
  • Champion and embed a culture of reliability across the Ads organization.

Benefits

  • Employees at Netflix are often offered flexible, people-first benefits—unlimited time away, generous parental leave, global family-forming support, mental-health programs (mindfulness, free counseling/coaching), and health coverage tailored by country. Financially, Netflix pays at personal top-of-market and lets employees choose their mix of cash vs. fully-vested 10-year stock options, alongside donation and volunteer matching. Convenience perks can include trust-based travel/expense policies, relocation support, and “Work, Not Drive” rideshare flexibility.
