Job description
The Process Engineer at Tesla will focus on process sustaining and continuous improvement for the production line of energy storage products. This role involves applying lean manufacturing principles, troubleshooting test failures, and collaborating with various engineering teams to enhance production efficiency and quality.
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Design for Manufacturability experience, Poke Yoke, and elimination of risk with design recommendations
- Background in Automated Systems (Electronics, Computer Controls, Electromechanical, Fastening, and/or IT Systems) is preferable
- Experience developing and improving Process with a track record of Overall Equipment Effectiveness improvement activities
- Good understanding of Bill of Materials, Manufacturing Execution System, Specification Management, Change Point Management
- Strong problem solving skills and aptitude for learning systems quickly
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control and its application
- Strong ability to work and communicate effectively with team and peers
Responsibilities
- Develop expertise in manufacturing processes and modify line layouts using Lean Manufacturing best practices
- Conduct root cause analysis of complex systems and mitigate failure modes
- Analyze and optimize production processes to maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
- Lead continuous improvement activities to drive improvements to critical KPIs: safety, quality, output, and cost
- Lead NCM activities, including documentation and troubleshooting of line fallout
- Diagnose issues found during the part manufacturing process and drive corrective action
- Monitor and reduce process variation using techniques such as Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Create and maintain Manufacturing Instructions, routings, and associated processes
- Support 24 by 7 production operations
