Job description

AMD is seeking an engineering leader to drive compiler innovation for data center GPU platforms focused on AI applications. The role involves setting technical direction, mentoring senior staff, and ensuring high-performance compiler toolchains. The ideal candidate will have experience in compiler optimizations and infrastructure, translating complex architectural features into backend implementations. This position is critical for enhancing the performance of AMD's platforms.

Requirements

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Multiple years of professional experience in compiler development with a focus on LLVM or other modern compiler backends.
  • Strong background in computer architecture and software engineering practices.
  • Experience designing and working with compiler backends.
  • Active contribution history to the open-source LLVM project.

Responsibilities

  • Improve the compiler infrastructure of current products and develop new technologies in the compiler space.
  • Design, implement, and tune sophisticated LLVM backend passes focusing on low-level optimizations.
  • Drive the design and implementation of new code generation infrastructure for evolving hardware.
  • Collaborate with Hardware Design, Architecture, Software Runtime, and Kernel/Driver teams on co-design efforts.
  • Represent the company in the open-source LLVM community by contributing patches and participating in design discussions.
