The Silicon Photonics Validation and Characterization Test Engineer will work within the Optical IO team at AMD, focusing on developing test solutions for silicon photonics. This role requires collaboration with various product development groups, including silicon design and packaging, to ensure best practices in testing are implemented. The engineer will serve as a technical point of contact, addressing complex challenges in semiconductor validation and characterization. The position emphasizes innovation and teamwork to advance AMD's mission in next-generation computing.

• Engineering experience in semiconductor validation and characterization test with a focus on silicon photonics is required.
• Proven ability to tackle complex test and manufacturing challenges for silicon photonics and optical interconnect technologies.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate across various teams are essential.
• MS or PhD in Electrical, Computer Engineering, Optics & Photonics Engineering, or comparable disciplines is required.

• Collaborate with silicon design, product and test, and packaging teams to architect and define test solutions for silicon photonics.
• Understand structural and parametric mechanisms for performance, yield, reliability, and quality issues by collaborating with design, packaging, and key suppliers.
• Provide technical inputs and test requirements to suppliers to enable production-worthy end-to-end solutions.
• Train other teams and engineers in the field of silicon photonics from design to volume test.
• Identify and mitigate test challenges while executing large technical projects and processes in a timely manner.
• Specify and develop test fixtures in collaboration with Hardware, PCB, and Firmware engineers.
• Develop test automation software in collaboration with design engineers.
