Job description

The Silicon Photonics Reliability Engineer will be part of the Optical IO team at AMD, focusing on establishing industry-leading reliability solutions for advanced silicon photonics products. This role involves collaboration with various Product Development, Silicon Design, and Packaging Groups, as well as key technology partners. The engineer will serve as a critical technical point of contact to ensure best practices and emerging reliability methodologies are implemented throughout the organization. The position requires tackling complex reliability challenges and defining long-term reliability solutions.

Requirements

  • Engineering experience in semiconductor reliability with a focus on silicon photonics is required.
  • Proven ability to address complex reliability challenges for silicon photonics and optical interconnect technologies is essential.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills across various teams are necessary.
  • A Master's or PhD in Electrical, Computer Engineering, Optics & Photonics Engineering, or comparable disciplines is required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with silicon design, product & test, and packaging teams to define reliability solutions for silicon photonics.
  • Interface with suppliers to provide technical inputs and reliability requirements for production-worthy solutions.
  • Train other teams and engineers in the field of silicon photonics across design, packaging, and volume testing.
  • Identify and mitigate reliability challenges while executing large technical projects in a timely manner.
  • Analyze failure data to identify trends and patterns and generate comprehensive failure analysis reports.
