Job description
This position involves performing technical tasks at the subsystem and component level for current and future products within a business unit. The role requires coordination and decision-making among various teams, including product line engineers and manufacturing. The main focus is on technology integration, design, analysis, and experimental testing to enhance product reliability and quality. The engineer will also lead efforts in product failure mode avoidance and interface management to ensure project expectations are met.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering, or related field and 3 years of experience as a Product, Validation, Systems or Design Engineer, or related position.
- Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering, or related field and 5 years of experience in a relevant engineering role.
- Experience in product integration, design, and analysis.
- Familiarity with Engineering Standard Work (ESW) and iDFMEA.
- Proficiency in 7-step problem solving and design review checklists.
Responsibilities
- Perform established technical tasks at the sub-system and component level.
- Act as a central point of coordination and decision-making between various engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Create and manage processes such as Engineering Standard Work (ESW) and Failure Incident Report Group (FIRG).
- Lead Product Failure Mode Avoidance by identifying potential failure modes and causes.
- Monitor and communicate across functional boundaries to meet project resource and quality expectations.
- Utilize Systems Engineering methods to assess system capabilities and risks.
- Negotiate and verify system requirements against capabilities to guide project scope.
