Job description
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will lead the design, optimization, and continuous improvement of complex manufacturing processes at our Jamestown, NY location. This role requires strong technical expertise and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient, high-quality operations. The engineer will provide mentorship to engineers and technicians while driving productivity improvements and troubleshooting high-impact issues. This position is 100% onsite and focuses on adopting advanced manufacturing technologies and aligning project objectives with strategic goals.
Requirements
- A degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field is required.
- 5 years of experience in manufacturing or assembly engineering is expected.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies is highly valuable.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills are essential.
- Hands-on experience with CNC metal cutting and processing equipment is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end execution of assigned manufacturing projects, ensuring all safety, quality, and production requirements are achieved.
- Apply advanced manufacturing principles to design, optimize, and implement processes that meet business and product goals.
- Drive continuous enhancements to manufacturing equipment and workflows to elevate efficiency, reliability, and consistency.
- Utilize continuous improvement methodologies and ensure alignment with Cummins manufacturing standards and operating practices.
- Lead communication efforts, influencing key business leaders, functional partners, and external stakeholders to support project objectives.
- Coordinate and collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver on specific project assignments and timelines.
- Provide advanced technical knowledge in manufacturing principles as applied within Cummins, helping guide strategic process decisions.
- Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and offer coaching to build capability, alignment, and long-term success.
