Job description

The Machining Engineer - Senior will join the manufacturing team at Cummins Inc. in Seymour, IN, focusing on improving machining processes and equipment. Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and implement machining processes and equipment to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Identify tooling, equipment, and process needs for smooth changeovers while meeting specifications.
  • Partner with engineering teams to resolve product or performance issues.
  • Conduct equipment engineering design evaluations and recommend improvements.
  • Drive improvements in equipment availability and throughput using continuous improvement tools.
  • Support operational excellence by standardizing processes and optimizing equipment utilization.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced team members to strengthen technical capability.
  • Provide senior technical leadership and hands-on support for CNC machining operations.
  • Ensure reliable operation of CNC machining lines by monitoring performance metrics.
  • Deliver rapid technical problem resolution for machining and production interruptions.
  • Champion safety, health, and environmental excellence in the workplace.
  • Drive cost, productivity, and machining optimization initiatives.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, and HSE teams.
