Job description

This role is focused on advancing the performance of ultraprecision mechatronics and motion systems at KLA. The successful candidate will join the Ann Arbor-based team, where they will characterize, analyze, and optimize the dynamic behavior of cutting-edge mechatronics modules. The position emphasizes collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex dynamic problems in semiconductor inspection and metrology tools. This is an opportunity to deepen expertise in vibration measurement and experimental modal analysis.

Requirements

  • Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with vibration measurement, modal testing, and dynamic troubleshooting in high-performance mechatronics systems.
  • Strong foundation in structural dynamics, vibrations, and control-system modeling.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB or Python for data analysis, signal processing, and visualization.
  • Experience performing finite element analysis (FEA) to support vibration studies.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as dictated by business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead vibration/NVH measurement and experimental modal analysis for precision mechatronic hardware.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot dynamic performance issues using advanced instrumentation.
  • Develop and validate structural and dynamic models to interpret vibration test results and guide system improvements.
  • Apply model-based analysis to predict and optimize system-level dynamic response.
  • Collaborate with controls, mechanical, software, and optics teams to resolve vibration-related challenges.
  • Support error budgeting, customer requirements, and design reviews with a focus on dynamic performance.
  • Document test plans, measurement results, and troubleshooting actions for multi-site engineering teams.

Benefits

  • Employees at KLA are often offered competitive pay with bonuses, a 401(k) match, an employee stock purchase program, and financial perks like student-debt assistance, planning support, and group insurance discounts. Health and lifestyle benefits typically include medical/dental/vision, life and other voluntary coverages, paid time off and holidays, family leave, backup care, wellness rewards, gym discounts, and community-volunteering opportunities. Employees also get strong growth support through tuition reimbursement, KLA’s corporate learning center, education awards, and engineering certification programs.
