·FY 2025Job description
This role is designed for an experienced control systems engineer who will have deep technical ownership and system-level influence on ultra-high-performance motion platforms. The engineer will define and drive control architectures for next-generation semiconductor inspection and metrology systems. Working alongside senior engineers, the focus will be on real hardware and custom actuators, influencing system architecture and control strategies. This position offers the opportunity to engage in hands-on experimental work and provide technical leadership across multiple teams.
Requirements
- Educational background in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Significant experience developing and deploying control systems for high-performance electromechanical or motion platforms.
- Deep understanding of control theory, system dynamics, and modeling as applied to real, imperfect hardware.
- Hands-on experience with custom actuators or precision motion systems.
- Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink and/or Python for modeling, simulation, tuning, and data analysis.
- Exposure to sophisticated control techniques such as robust, adaptive, efficient, nonlinear, or multivariable systems.
- Familiarity with real-time control environments, experimental validation, and performance solving.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
Responsibilities
- Own control architecture for ultra-precision motion and positioning subsystems.
- Design and implement sophisticated feedback and feed-forward control strategies for custom actuators.
- Conduct model-based analysis of system dynamics, including plant characterization and performance trade-off studies.
- Tune and optimize multi-axis motion systems to meet ambitious accuracy and stability requirements.
- Provide technical leadership in multi-functional integration with various engineering teams.
- Contribute to requirements definition, error budgets, and design reviews with a focus on control performance.
- Engage in hands-on experimental work, including hardware-in-the-loop testing and root-cause analysis.
- Document and communicate control strategies, assumptions, and results across global engineering teams.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance for less-experienced controls engineers.
Benefits
- Employees at KLA are often offered competitive pay with bonuses, a 401(k) match, an employee stock purchase program, and financial perks like student-debt assistance, planning support, and group insurance discounts. Health and lifestyle benefits typically include medical/dental/vision, life and other voluntary coverages, paid time off and holidays, family leave, backup care, wellness rewards, gym discounts, and community-volunteering opportunities. Employees also get strong growth support through tuition reimbursement, KLA’s corporate learning center, education awards, and engineering certification programs.
