Job description
The Mechanical Design Engineer at KLA is responsible for developing innovative mechanical design solutions that meet high performance, reliability, and manufacturability standards. This role involves collaboration across various engineering disciplines throughout the full product lifecycle, from requirements definition to manufacturing release. The position is part of the Film and Scatterometry Technology Division, which focuses on providing metrology solutions for semiconductor manufacturers. The engineer will tackle design challenges related to precision and ultra-high vacuum systems.
Requirements
- Doctorate or Master's degree with relevant work experience, or Bachelor's degree with 3 years of experience.
- In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, and 3D printing.
- Basic knowledge of vacuum systems is a plus.
- Solid understanding of statics, mechanics of materials, fluid flow, and heat transfer.
- Experience in 3D solid modeling, preferably with Creo or Solidworks.
Responsibilities
- Drive requirement specification and conduct feasibility studies.
- Perform conceptual and detailed design using 3D solid modeling.
- Conduct various analyses, including fluid, thermal, vibrational, and FEA modeling.
- Hold design reviews throughout the design process and manage prototype procurement.
- Assemble and test prototypes, ensuring system integration and testing.
