The Software Development Engineer role in the Core Networking team focuses on building software services to deploy and scale Amazon networks across global datacenters. The team is responsible for ensuring the efficiency and reliability of data center operations, providing connectivity to AWS services. Candidates will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with diverse teams to deliver high-quality solutions. The position requires strong software engineering skills and a background in network engineering.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards and operations.
- 2+ years of design or architecture experience of new and existing systems.
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
- 2+ years of work with networking fundamentals or Internet protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, SSL, DNS, HTTP/S.
- Experience working in a Linux/Unix environment.
- 2+ years of experience with major internet routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, MPLS, RSVP, and ISIS.
- Knowledge of network analysis fundamentals and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Build software services to deploy and scale Amazon networks.
- Deliver high quality, extensible design and code.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers.
- Manage competing priorities and bring order to ambiguous scenarios.
- Identify and implement optimizations for performance, scalability, and efficiency.
- Work in a 24x7 team on call rotation and manage customers during problem resolution.
