This role involves full ownership of the design lifecycle, from requirements definition to manufacturing handoff. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams and build strong technical relationships with vendors. The position emphasizes innovation and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 8+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 5+ years.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design for complex systems involving precision mechanisms, vacuum systems, vibration isolation, and electronic packaging.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, preferably ProE/Creo.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal, and welding.
  • Demonstrated expertise in FEA, thermal analysis, and tolerance analysis.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, problem-solving environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead sustaining design efforts for opto-mechanical modules, precision mechanisms, mechanical packaging, racks, chassis, and mechatronic systems.
  • Own the full design process including requirements specification, feasibility studies, FEA modeling, thermal and CFD analysis, conceptual and detailed design, drawing creation, design reviews, and manufacturing support.
  • Drive obsolescence management strategies to maintain performance and reliability of legacy systems in high volume manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with vendors on component fabrication, qualification, and process transfer.
  • Select materials and resolve fabrication methods for complex assemblies.
  • Apply advanced mechanical analysis techniques including tolerance stack-up, GD&T, modal analysis, and thermo-elastic modeling.
  • Support prototype testing, system integration, and issue resolution across product phases.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to cross-functional technical reviews.

Benefits

  • Employees at KLA are often offered competitive pay with bonuses, a 401(k) match, an employee stock purchase program, and financial perks like student-debt assistance, planning support, and group insurance discounts. Health and lifestyle benefits typically include medical/dental/vision, life and other voluntary coverages, paid time off and holidays, family leave, backup care, wellness rewards, gym discounts, and community-volunteering opportunities.
