Job description

The Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) Networking team is seeking software engineers to enhance the virtual networking control plane for improved EC2 performance. This role involves building, scaling, and maintaining high-performance software for managing millions of Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) configurations. The team values collaboration across diverse roles and encourages innovative ideas within an inclusive culture. Engineers will have the opportunity to impact the AWS cloud infrastructure significantly.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards and testing
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience working effectively across cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable cloud services and features for AWS's core infrastructure
  • Collaborate with product managers and senior engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Write high-quality, efficient code while adhering to AWS's architectural best practices
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure quality, security, and performance standards
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across AWS services
  • Implement automated testing frameworks to ensure reliability and performance
  • Contribute to on-call rotations to support production systems
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance
  • Document system designs, APIs, and operational procedures
  • Continuously evaluate and improve existing systems for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency
