The Principal Security Engineer at AWS will lead efforts to secure the environment for customers by developing security products across various platforms and technologies. This role focuses on evolving Threat Intelligence and Network Security Services to combat emerging threats, particularly in the context of AI. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in security engineering and a passion for building high-performing teams. This position requires making high-judgment security decisions that impact all AWS customers while mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience creating effective security strategies that balance prevention and detection.
  • Hands-on experience in security engineering and software development.
  • Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with gathering and developing Threat Intelligence for customer-facing services.

Responsibilities

  • Build scalable security services that protect customer workloads against emerging threats.
  • Offer recommendations and fine-tune findings to enhance threat mitigations.
  • Own the definition of best practices for the software development lifecycle used by junior engineers.
  • Deliver meaningful security metrics to stakeholders and continuously improve these metrics.
  • Communicate with influential customers to explain technology and understand their requirements.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
