The Air Quality Modeler will be a key member of the Air Quality Team at Amazon Web Services (AWS), focusing on air quality permitting and compliance in the Americas. This role involves developing and implementing environmental programs to ensure adherence to air quality regulations while supporting AWS's growth. The successful candidate will collaborate with various stakeholders to integrate air dispersion modeling into data center planning and operations. The position requires strong leadership in managing air dispersion modeling projects and engaging with regulatory bodies.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience with air dispersion modeling analyses (AERMOD) in support of air permit applications and NAAQS evaluations.
- 5+ years of experience with air quality regulatory assessments and air emissions evaluations.
- 5+ years of experience with air permitting at local, state, and federal levels.
- 3+ years of experience with engine specific regulations including 40 CFR 63 Subpart ZZZZ and 40 CFR 60 Subpart IIII.
- Experience managing multiple projects and prioritizing tasks effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication abilities.
Responsibilities
- Complete air dispersion modeling analyses in support of air permitting and strategic data center planning.
- Develop air dispersion modeling tools to provide technical oversight to environmental and partner teams.
- Collaborate with business units to ensure compliance with environmental regulations during the design phase.
- Manage contracts, budgets, and relationships with environmental consultants and vendors.
- Prepare air permit applications for new construction, modifications, amendments, and renewals.
- Lead interactions with regulatory agencies for permit evaluation and processing.
- Build effective relationships with regulatory bodies and service providers for air permitting.
- Consult on strategies to reduce the environmental impact of air emissions.
- Prioritize and manage multiple technically complex assignments concurrently.
