This role is a technical leadership position within the AWS Applied AI Solutions organization, focusing on the development of foundational AI components for business applications. The team aims to create reusable AI building blocks that enhance enterprise-scale solutions across various sectors. The position combines the dynamic environment of a startup with the resources of AWS, allowing for significant influence over AI product development. The successful candidate will lead projects, mentor engineers, and drive consensus across teams to deliver high-quality AI solutions.

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
• 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
• Experience as a mentor or tech lead for an engineering team
• Experience with the full software development life cycle, including coding standards and testing
• Experience designing and implementing AI/ML systems, including working with LLMs and prompt engineering
• Proven track record building distributed systems with well-designed APIs
• Strong working knowledge of AWS AI/ML services such as Amazon Bedrock and SageMaker
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

• Own the technical architecture and strategy for a critical AI agent capability area
• Lead projects requiring multiple engineers while balancing business goals with technical excellence
• Research, evaluate, and integrate state-of-the-art AI technologies
• Design and implement reusable AI components that meet enterprise-grade quality standards
• Drive consensus across teams with different priorities to create unified AI building blocks
• Champion engineering best practices and establish a culture of robust software development
• Mentor and coach other engineers to foster technical growth
• Communicate complex technical designs to diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders
