Job description

The Data Center Controls Engineer will be part of the global controls team at AWS, focusing on troubleshooting and maintaining building management and electrical power monitoring systems. This role involves collaborating with a diverse team of engineers and specialists to ensure the highest standards of safety and security in AWS data centers. The engineer will develop new processes and standards while managing various projects related to BMS and EPMS. The position emphasizes innovation and problem-solving in a critical environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, engineering technology, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of industrial controls and automation experience.
  • Experience with industrial controls in critical environments such as data centers or pharmaceuticals.
  • A minimum of two years in Controls or Electrical construction project coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and perform Root Cause Analysis for BMS and EPMS related issues.
  • Train and assist internal customers with the design and operation of BMS and EPMS systems.
  • Provide technical assistance and support during the data center life cycle.
  • Review quarterly maintenance results for BMS and EPMS and resolve action items.
  • Develop project scope of work, schedule, budget, and level of efforts for BMS and EPMS projects.
  • Manage scope, schedule, finance, and execution of BMS and EPMS improvement projects.
  • Assist in procurement activities including vendor proposal reviews and purchase orders.
  • Participate in the global on-call schedule for immediate technical support.
  • Attend project meetings and report status to stakeholders.
  • Support commissioning activities related to Controls projects.
  • Review and iterate on controls sequence of operation and provide feedback.
  • Develop and modify controls logic programming and graphical user interfaces.
  • Manage multiple stakeholder deliverables and navigate challenging situations.
  • Financially manage BMS and EPMS service contracts.
  • Visit assigned data centers to troubleshoot and supervise vendor work.
