Job description

Amazon MGM Studios is looking for a Software Development Engineer III to lead the technical development of the Studio in the Cloud (SITC) platform. This role focuses on transforming entertainment content creation by migrating production workflows to AWS cloud solutions. The engineer will be responsible for owning team-level architecture and providing technical direction for multi-engineer projects. The position requires solving complex technical challenges while ensuring the scalability and performance of the systems developed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
  • 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
  • Experience as a mentor or tech lead for an engineering team
  • 5+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Lead software development for critical SITC platform components and provide system-wide design guidance.
  • Design and implement distributed systems across the full software lifecycle.
  • Own team architecture decisions including service boundaries and integration approaches.
  • Solve complex technical problems related to media transfer and low-latency playback.
  • Write exemplary production code that adheres to best practices.
  • Lead design reviews and ensure consensus on technical decisions.
  • Drive adoption of engineering best practices within the team.
  • Actively coach and mentor engineers to develop their technical skills.
  • Communicate technical designs and decisions effectively to stakeholders.
