The Senior Design Automation Engineer will join the Center for Quantum Computing's software team, focusing on developing software solutions for quantum device design. This role emphasizes collaboration with chip designers to create automation tools that enhance the design process. The ideal candidate will translate scientific requirements into effective software implementations while driving projects to completion. The position requires strong engineering principles and the ability to work effectively within a team of scientists and engineers.

• PhD or Master's degree and 6+ years of applied research experience
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
• Experience working with scientists in a research environment
• Experience with the full software development lifecycle
• Experience setting up and running high-performance computing workflows
• Experience running physics simulations using Python
• Experience with chip design and layout software
• Experience with superconducting quantum computing
• Experience with common open-source scientific software
• Experience with AWS tools and services

• Work with designers to build a quantum processor design automation flow.
• Develop a shared Python library for analysis and optimization routines.
• Profile and improve the performance of design, simulation, and analysis tools.
• Leverage infrastructure-as-code to define and orchestrate high-performance computing workloads.
• Make changes to the database and UI to capture and visualize design progress.
• Look for opportunities to accelerate design workflows using advancements in scientific computing.
• Empower scientists to contribute to the codebase through mentorship and documentation.
