The Hardware Validation & Systems Engineer will lead the testing, validation, and reliability foundations for delivery station equipment at Amazon. This role is part of the WW Equipment Engineering Innovation team, focusing on innovative solutions to enhance logistics systems. The engineer will work closely with global suppliers and internal teams to ensure high-quality and reliable equipment deployment. This position requires strong leadership and collaboration skills to influence senior leaders across various organizations.
Requirements
- 5+ years of design and innovation, research and development work experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a foreign equivalent
- Experience with design and innovation and research and development
- Experience in management of engineering design projects
- Experience using business or technical software like MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software
- 5+ years of specialty experience with progressive responsibility
- Master's degree in Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, or a related field
- Knowledge of system architecture, optimization, system dynamics, system analysis, statistical analysis, reliability analysis, electronic system design, and decision making
- Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and high-speed manufacturing
- Experience with design-in-safety
Responsibilities
- Act as the WW technical owner for hardware validation and reliability strategy for delivery station equipment.
- Apply systems thinking and risk-based methodologies to assess hardware reliability, failure modes, and design tradeoffs.
- Define and standardize mechanical test methodologies aligned to real-world operational conditions.
- Translate operational usage and risk into effective validation plans, including accelerated and destructive testing.
- Review, approve, and technically challenge supplier-generated test plans and validation reports.
- Lead and govern external test vendors performing validation on behalf of Amazon.
- Define validation metrics, acceptance criteria, and documentation standards for NPI and sustaining programs.
- Act as a validation and risk expert in design, architecture, and supplier readiness reviews.
- Build structured plans to take equipment from concept through assessment, pilot, validation, and global expansion.
- Support failure investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action activities as needed.
- Partner with Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Design, and Operations to close gaps between design intent and production reality.
- Create and maintain documentation such as validation standards, test plans, and test reports.
- Contribute to internal engineering process innovation, including building scalable validation systems and governance models.
- Travel up to 50% regionally and worldwide depending on business needs.
