The Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) Networking team is seeking a software engineer to help re-engineer the virtual networking control plane. This role involves building, scaling, and maintaining high-performance software for managing millions of Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) configurations. The team focuses on delivering exceptional customer experiences through continuous innovation and operational excellence. Engineers will collaborate across AWS to solve complex technical challenges while maintaining high standards for availability and performance.

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language
• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards and operations
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• Experience working effectively across cross-functional teams

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable systems and services for Amazon EC2 (VPC)
• Build and optimize networking infrastructure components to enhance customer experience
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and deliver features
• Write clean, maintainable code and conduct thorough code reviews
• Troubleshoot complex distributed systems issues and implement long-term solutions
• Participate in on-call rotations to ensure operational excellence for VPC services
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and knowledge sharing sessions
• Contribute to technical documentation and operational runbooks
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance
