Job description

The Supplier Quality Engineer role at AWS focuses on managing infrastructure equipment quality by collaborating with engineering, procurement, and suppliers. This position is part of the AWS Infrastructure Reliability and Quality organization, which ensures high standards of quality and reliability for critical equipment in data centers. The engineer will lead initiatives to improve supplier quality and drive new processes to eliminate defects. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 6+ years of proven experience in improving product quality for electro-mechanical products in a manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years of experience in a Supplier Quality Engineering role
  • Experience with Six Sigma tools and Lean techniques
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer
  • Practical Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, 8D, DMAIC, and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Certified QMS Auditor
  • Practical Knowledge ISO 9001 QMS Standard
  • 1+ years of experience on data center electro-mechanical equipment

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and maintain the Supplier Quality roadmap for complex electrical and mechanical infrastructure equipment.
  • Manage complete equipment lifecycle quality by working closely with suppliers, engineering, procurement, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Improve equipment quality by identifying and closing gaps through thorough on-site audits.
  • Drive Supplier Quality Improvement Programs and track supplier performance along with goal settings for key performance indicators.
  • Develop critical to quality parameters and perform inspections and functional testing for complex equipment.
  • Review historical failures and equipment design changes to update equipment technical specifications.
  • Lead root cause analysis for complex electrical and mechanical infrastructure equipment.
  • Evaluate and validate complex root cause analysis reports from a technical perspective.
  • Develop new product and supplier qualification plans in terms of quality.
  • Perform data analysis on failures reported during the equipment lifecycle and create technical reports.
  • Work on concurrent projects across multiple geographical regions.
  • Demonstrate a can-do attitude and thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
