Job description

The Nitro Linux team is responsible for maintaining the secure, embedded Linux environment that powers AWS's Nitro System. This role focuses on researching, designing, and implementing changes to the Linux kernel to enhance performance and meet business needs. The team collaborates across various domains, including hardware and application software, to ensure seamless integration and operation. Candidates will work on next-generation EC2 compute platforms and contribute to the development of production-quality code.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, and implement Linux kernel changes to meet business requirements
  • Drive kernel development for next-generation EC2 compute platforms
  • Bring up Linux on new hardware platforms and custom silicon
  • Debug complex, system-level, multi-component issues across layers from kernel to application
  • Profile system performance and drive optimizations across the software stack
  • Develop tooling for performance characterization, qualification, and deployment
  • Deliver production-quality code and support its operation in production environments
  • Collaborate across hardware, firmware, systems, and application software teams
  • Leverage AI tools and technologies to enhance productivity and technical problem-solving
