Job description

The AWS End User Messaging team is seeking a Software Development Engineer I to build and scale messaging routing infrastructure, including SMS, Voice, and RCS channels. This role involves collaborating with experienced engineers and product managers to create intelligent routing systems and templated messaging solutions. The team focuses on delivering innovative features that enhance customer communications and ensure reliable message delivery. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong foundation in object-oriented programming, data structures, and algorithms
  • Experience with or eagerness to learn distributed systems and cloud services
  • Passion for building customer-facing features and solving complex technical challenges
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Ownership mindset and willingness to learn from experienced engineers

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable services by building new microservices and APIs for templated messaging and routing logic.
  • Take ownership of features from design through deployment, including writing comprehensive tests and creating operational dashboards.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to architecture decisions for building fault-tolerant messaging systems.
  • Work on intelligent routing algorithms that optimize message delivery based on various performance metrics.
  • Develop and enhance fraud protection systems that analyze traffic patterns and detect suspicious activity.
  • Write comprehensive tests and participate in code reviews to ensure quality and reliability of the systems.
  • Mentor and grow junior engineers on the team.
