Job description

The Network Infrastructure Engineer role at AWS involves building and scaling Amazon Dedicated Cloud regions as part of the Infrastructure Operations team. This position focuses on driving the stability and sustainability of next-generation networks while automating and enhancing network systems. The team is diverse, comprising software, hardware, and network engineers, and emphasizes collaboration to meet customer demands. Candidates will engage in a dynamic environment, tackling complex challenges in network infrastructure.

Requirements

  • The candidate must be a US Citizen and possess an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.
  • 3-5+ years of mid-level and/or enterprise experience as a technician or engineer, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of network cabling, optic types, and test equipment, such as VFL, power meter, and OTDR.
  • Understanding of infrastructure technologies, including Routers and Switches, as well as common networking protocols like BGP and OSPF.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or JNCIA are preferred.
  • A BS in Information Systems or Computer Science or relevant certifications is required.

Responsibilities

  • Clearly communicate project status and blockers to leadership and project management.
  • Perform device build and cabling validation activities.
  • Manage cabling vendor activities and perform quality assurance activities.
  • Support Network Engineering deployment activities during scheduled change management windows.
  • Troubleshoot networking, routing, and interconnectivity issues.
  • Manage work and priorities through a ticketing system and collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Travel within the geographical work area is required, with up to 40% travel outside the traditional work area.
