Job description
As an IT Support Engineer I at Amazon, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality support for computer hardware, operating systems, and enterprise application software. You will work within a defined geographical area, troubleshooting and implementing technical solutions to enhance operational efficiency. This position requires self-motivation and the ability to manage local technical projects while interacting with management and staff. You will also be responsible for ensuring that IT infrastructure remains available during production hours.
Requirements
- High school or equivalent diploma
- 2+ years of professional experience
- 2+ years of troubleshooting in a multi-user high availability environment experience
- 2+ years of networking experience such as DNS, DHCP, SSL, OSI Model, and TCP/IP
- 2+ years of PC repair, troubleshooting, deployment and liquidation experience
- 1+ years of IT client, server, and network service delivery experience
- Fluent in Cisco/networking and either Linux and/or Microsoft
- Possess and maintain a current, valid Driver License
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Cisco/CCNA, Linux (Redhat), Microsoft hardware (installation), AWS, or other industry relevant certifications
- Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance
- Experience communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience
- Experience managing multiple projects, prioritizing, planning, and managing time
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work successfully with limited supervision
Responsibilities
- Perform network engineering and troubleshooting, data cabling, and systems administration in various software and hardware environments.
- Ensure infrastructure networking and computing systems remain available during production hours.
- Interact with management and staff to provide analytical and technical assistance for continuous improvement of IT solutions.
- Manage local technical projects effectively.
- Maintain or create policies, procedures, and processes.
- Identify root causes of operational issues and process inefficiencies.
- Move up to 49lbs as well as stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours.
- Support customers from multiple buildings in the area, as well as remote customers.
- Travel within your local or regional area to support customers.
