Job description

The Systems Development Engineer role at Amazon focuses on developing and delivering advanced fulfillment systems through innovative technology. This position is part of the Technology Deployment - Systems Integration team, which aims to enhance the customer experience by integrating complex automation solutions. Successful candidates will work closely with Fulfillment Center Operations and product development engineers to ensure high-quality project delivery. The role requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to build relationships across various teams.

Requirements

  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix.
  • 2+ years of control system experience including PLC/IPC based controls design, development, implementation, and support.
  • Experience with the designs of complex, automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, or systems including robotics.
  • Demonstrated understanding of life-cycle embedded systems development including hardware and software.
  • Experience in testing and implementing software.
  • Experience in industrial networking and communications including topology design.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, or a related STEM field.
  • Operations Management/Distribution Center experience.
  • Proven technical leadership for engineering projects or programs.

Responsibilities

  • Support the installation of complex cross-functional projects with considerable impact.
  • Work with internal and external engineering teams to successfully deliver high-quality projects.
  • Contribute to project priorities, establishing milestones, and driving schedules to meet deadlines.
  • Participate in design reviews and support execution efforts between internal teams and outside vendors.
  • Communicate project status and produce clear summaries for the projects owned.
  • Capture and synthesize the Voice of Customer for new product introductions.
  • Build strong working relationships with Fulfillment Center management and operations teams.
  • Identify process improvement initiatives in support of operations and engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to generate high-quality solutions.
  • Travel up to 75% throughout North America as needed.
