The Systems Development Engineer role at Amazon focuses on bridging traditional media workflows with modern cloud infrastructure to enhance film and television production. Requirements
- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure.
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust.
- Experience with Linux/Unix.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes.
- Experience in systems administration, network administration, AWS cloud app development, DevOps, or site reliability engineering.
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems.
- 2+ years of networking experience including DNS, DHCP, SSL, OSI Model, and TCP/IP.
- Knowledge of security best practices.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure-as-code principles and tools such as CloudFormation, CDK, or Terraform.
- Experience with distributed systems at scale.
- Experience with a variety of digital media workflows and post production.
- Knowledge of ProTools or other audio or video editing software.
Responsibilities
- Build new cloud-native capabilities for VFX rendering and management, sound mixing, QC, mastering, delivery, and remote production workflows.
- Improve and scale existing Editorial, Dailies, Color, and Conform workflows supporting active productions.
- Translate complex post-production workflows into infrastructure-as-code using CloudFormation or CDK.
- Troubleshoot production-impacting issues across the full stack, from network configurations to application-level bugs.
- Design and implement solutions using AWS compute, storage, and networking services optimized for high-throughput media workloads.
- Build secure infrastructure following AWS best practices for encryption, IAM policies, VPC design, and authentication mechanisms.
- Collaborate with Product Management and internal Production Technology teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Automate operational tasks and build self-service tools that empower production teams.
