The Amazon Robotics Autonomous Mobility software team is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join their Platform, Data and Tools team. This role involves developing autonomy software for Amazon's first fully autonomous warehouse robot, Proteus. The engineer will work on onboard mapping, perception, motion planning, and control software while collaborating with engineers and scientists to enhance machine learning training and deployment pipelines. The team is dedicated to delivering state-of-the-art autonomous navigation software for efficient operation of mobile robots.
Requirements
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for the full software development life cycle
- Experience with CUDA kernels or ML/low-level kernels
- Experience in Unix or working with device technologies under development
- Experience building tools for building, testing, releasing, or monitoring
- Experience working in a cloud-based development and production environment such as AWS
- Experience in embedded development in C/C++
- Experience building custom distributions using tools such as Yocto or Buildroot
Responsibilities
- Optimize runtime performance of core algorithms by exploiting underlying hardware acceleration capabilities
- Integrate new sensors and hardware components into the autonomy software stack
- Develop and customize the Nvidia Jetpack based platform and OS
- Build data pipelines and tools to enable the machine learning development flywheel
- Develop software to enable remote diagnostics, recovery, and control of autonomous robots
- Build visualization tools for analyzing and debugging robot behavior
- Design and develop software interfaces to enable hardware testing and manufacturing processes
