The Systems Engineer role within Amazon's Robotics Delivery & Packaging Innovations (RDPI) team focuses on deploying advanced industrial automation and robotics technologies across North America. This position requires strong technical skills in mechanical and electrical systems, network configurations, and software coordination. The team is dedicated to improving the speed, quality, and cost of technology deployment in Amazon's fulfillment centers. Candidates will work collaboratively with various stakeholders and travel extensively to project sites.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related STEM field
- Ability to travel domestically 75% or more of the year
- 2+ years of site reliability engineering (SRE), systems engineering, systems administration, DevOps, security administration, or network administration experience
- 1+ years of building scripts, tooling, and automation for large-scale computing environments experience
- Knowledge of configuration management systems, such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or related systems
- Experience in network capture and systems troubleshooting
Responsibilities
- Oversee large scale project planning, installation, and launch of industrial automation technologies
- Support and guide installation of robotics, packaging, and sortation technologies at Amazon fulfillment centers
- Develop detailed knowledge of the operation of robotic systems and guide installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of these systems
- Manage technical ambiguity around integration of work cells in fulfillment centers
- Collaborate with hardware engineering, technical program managers, product managers, and internal customers
- Manage day-to-day project scheduling and budget management
- Lead teams of other engineers on projects
- Work on continuous improvement activities to improve the projects in your space
