Job description

The Sr. Material and Processes Engineer role at AWS involves collaborating with design engineers to select appropriate materials and processes for data center systems. This position is part of a global data center engineering team focused on continuous innovation and reliability. Requirements

  • 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience
  • 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
  • Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance
  • Professional Engineering or Architectural License
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
  • Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
  • Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities

Responsibilities

  • Provide broad materials and processes support for metallic and/or composite materials including various manufacturing techniques.
  • Support design, analysis, materials selection, process development, and M&P qualification for data center systems.
  • Review production drawings for large complex assemblies systematically and document the review to established requirements.
  • Be responsible for M&P signatory release of engineering drawings for parts and assemblies.
  • Lead and coordinate internal and external M&P efforts, including development of specifications and supplier qualification.
  • Contribute to the development of internal engineering and quality processes to standardize material evaluation and qualification.
  • Work with cross-functional teams within the organization and other business units.
