Job description

The Failure Analysis team at SPICE lab focuses on improving product reliability and safety through scientific and engineering methods. This position involves investigating failure mechanisms in enterprise compute and networking assemblies, particularly thermal solutions. The role requires hands-on work in a lab environment and collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive reliability improvements. Candidates will develop and execute failure analysis outcomes and provide guidance on manufacturing and design best practices.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or above in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, material science, physics or equivalent.
  • Adept at electrical characterization techniques for electrical fault isolation and materials characterization.
  • Experience with enterprise compute thermal solutions, including 3D vapor chambers and immersion cooling systems.
  • Experience with thermal characterization techniques for NTD or fault isolation.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct failure analysis utilizing electrical fault isolation techniques, physical analysis, spectroscopy, and chemical characterization.
  • Consult on corrective actions, method development, and design/manufacturing best practices to improve hardware reliability.
  • Interface with Senior and Principal engineering staff to develop lab methods for enterprise compute assemblies.
  • Provide periodic updates on failure analysis investigations to Annapurna Labs stakeholders.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
