The Data Center Retro Commissioning Engineer (CxE) role involves overseeing the testing and validation of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure. You will work within a diverse team to ensure the highest standards of safety and security while delivering capacity at low costs. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to manage commissioning vendors and ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements. This role offers the opportunity to lead multiple projects and contribute to team growth and program improvements.
Requirements
- 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission critical facilities such as data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.
- 4+ years of commissioning experience.
- 5+ years of experience in engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
- Professional Engineer License.
- Experience with building codes and regulations for your region.
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
Responsibilities
- Provide testing and validation oversight of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
- Review design documents and equipment submittals.
- Lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT) and manage third-party commissioning vendors.
- Audit commissioning vendors' activities to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements.
- Report commissioning progress and metrics to the Regional Commissioning Manager.
- Coordinate site activities and prioritize tasks across AWS engineering, capacity delivery, operations, and contractor teams.
- Communicate lessons learned to peers and participate in initiatives that drive improvement to the commissioning program.
