The Physical Security Engineer at AWS will lead security designs for data centers across the Americas Region. This role involves collaborating with a diverse team of engineers and security experts to ensure the safety and resilience of AWS facilities. The engineer will provide technical guidance and develop security design requirements while enhancing the security posture of AWS. The position offers opportunities for creativity and problem-solving in a dynamic environment.

• 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission critical facilities such as data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.
• 4+ years of commissioning experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities.
• Professional Engineer License.
• Experience with building codes and regulations for your region.
• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.

• Lead designs for physical security elements such as cameras, access control, and intrusion detection for data center projects.
• Collaborate with other security organizations within AWS to develop design standards and evaluate the cost, risk, and benefits of designs.
• Communicate conceptual designs to internal stakeholders and external consultants.
• Participate in maintenance of Basis of Design, prototype design, and template specifications for physical security elements.
• Create security design scope of work for design RFPs.
• Review and direct the work of physical security engineering design consultants.
• Manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
• Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, and construction reviews, with anticipated travel not to exceed 25%.
