Job description

Hyperplane is seeking a Software Development Engineer to enhance its distributed Network Function Virtualization (NFV) platform. The team is responsible for critical systems that support both customer-facing services and internal AWS services. The ideal candidate will be passionate about cloud computing and building resilient, high-performance distributed services. This role requires a strong focus on operational excellence and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 8+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
  • 8+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
  • Experience as a mentor or tech lead for an engineering team
  • 8+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle
  • Master's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable distributed systems for AWS EC2's network virtualization infrastructure.
  • Lead technical design and architecture decisions for critical components of the Hyperplane platform.
  • Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and technical guidance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver customer-facing features and improvements.
  • Optimize system performance through profiling and implementing improvements.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and troubleshoot complex production issues.
  • Contribute to long-term technical strategy and roadmap planning.
  • Write high-quality, maintainable code in languages such as C++, Rust, or Java.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
