The Software Development Engineer will join the Amazon Kids+ Tablet Engineering team to create innovative consumer software products for children and their parents. This role focuses on delivering features that enhance the Amazon Kids+ subscription experience on Fire Kids Tablets and other devices. The team values creativity and collaboration, aiming to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for kids to learn and play. The engineer will leverage their expertise to solve technical challenges and drive continuous improvement in product quality.
Requirements
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience with design patterns, reliability, and scaling
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
- Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience with Cloud platforms, database systems, AI tools for development productivity, and version control systems
Responsibilities
- Build mobile software for kids that allows them to access and enjoy the Amazon Kids+ subscription on their tablet
- Own the long-term quality and success of the products that the team builds
- Work with the manager and teammates to clarify requirements, design solutions, and solve difficult software problems
- Mentor new teammates and help them learn to develop production software that meets Amazon's quality bar
- Identify appropriate tradeoffs and escalate issues when problems are beyond control
