The Systems Development Engineer will be part of Amazon's Technology Deployment - Systems Integration team, focusing on developing and delivering advanced fulfillment systems. This role requires strong engineering experience in automation and system integration, serving as a liaison between Fulfillment Center Operations and product development engineers. The successful candidate will improve deployment processes and troubleshoot advanced technology systems. The position emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and ownership in solving complex problems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, or a related STEM field.
- 3+ years of control system experience including PLC/IPC based controls design, development, implementation, and support.
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Linux/Unix.
- Demonstrated understanding of life-cycle embedded systems development including hardware and software.
- Experience in testing and implementing software and industrial networking.
- Master's degree in a related field is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Work with internal and external engineering teams to deliver high-quality cross-functional deployments.
- Contribute to project priorities, establish milestones, and drive deployment schedules.
- Deep dive into technical solutions including sorter system configuration and material handling integration.
- Develop and maintain scripts and automation tools to improve engineering efficiency.
- Participate in design reviews and support execution efforts between internal teams and vendors.
- Communicate project status effectively and produce clear summaries for the program management team.
- Capture and synthesize the Voice of Customer for new product introductions.
- Build strong working relationships with Fulfillment Center and Sort Center management.
- Develop and maintain deployment standards and runbooks for consistent execution.
- Identify process improvement initiatives in support of operations and engineering teams.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to generate high-quality solutions.
- Travel up to 75% throughout North America as needed.
