This role involves identifying security issues in chips and low-level software for Amazon's digital products. The Security team focuses on ensuring secure hardware architecture for devices like Fire TV, Eero, and Alexa. The position offers opportunities for security design, threat modeling, and code reviews. Candidates will also engage in developing tools to enhance device security and provide technical expertise to product teams.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in threat modeling, secure coding, identity management, software development, cryptography, system administration, or network security.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Knowledge of hardware security mechanisms, including secure boot and trusted execution environments.
- Knowledge of operating system internals, particularly Linux and common RTOS environments.
- Experience with semiconductor reverse engineering.
- Master's degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
- Experience using scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Linux bash.
- Experience with hardware, system, and network security, including cryptography.
- Strong skills in code review and exploit development.
- Hands-on experience with fault injection and side channel attack mitigation.
Responsibilities
- Guide the secure development of devices at Amazon through security design, threat modeling, and code reviews.
- Propose, research, and develop tools and techniques to improve the security posture of devices.
- Provide technical security expertise and consultation to device product teams.
- Identify security risks and collaborate with product engineers to create mitigations.
- Develop new security policies and procedures.
- Empower others to enhance their security knowledge by promoting awareness and creating training materials.
- Participate in projects that develop new intellectual property.
