Job description
The role involves overseeing the operation and management of critical systems in AWS data centers, ensuring high standards for safety and security. You will work with a diverse team of engineers and specialists to maintain and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical equipment. The position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively. You will also be involved in creating standard practices and optimizing facility efficiency.
Requirements
- 4+ years of relevant work experience in a data center or critical environment or 8+ years of Technical training and/or experience with relevant data center facilities equipment
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Associates or Bachelors in applicable engineering field or mechanical or electrical trades
- Operating engineering licenses such as DC II, DC III, or equivalent
- Stationary Engineering or Building Engineering License
- Electrical or mechanical Journeyman License
- CFC license
- NFPA 70E certification
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Solid leadership and organizational skills
- Proven self-starter with the ability to prioritize in a complex, fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary escalation point for all facilities-related issues.
- Oversee operation and management of routine and emergency services on critical systems.
- Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and troubleshoot facilities within internal Service Level Agreements.
- Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians.
- Create and deploy new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians and vendor support teams.
- Assist in the build-out of new facilities and projects to increase current facility efficiency.
- Work outside of normal business hours for routine maintenance and respond to out-of-hours emergency calls.
- Communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
- Coordinate projects with IT managers and other business leaders to optimize plant safety and performance.
- Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to by vendor and Amazon staff.
- Establish building performance benchmarks and prepare reports on facility operations and maintenance.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and other administrative tools for day-to-day tasks.
