Job description

Amazon Industrial Robotics is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to develop advanced robotics systems that enhance automation at scale. The role involves working with cross-functional teams to create innovative solutions that ensure safety and performance in dynamic environments. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking projects in robotic manipulation, locomotion, and human-robot interaction. Candidates will engage in design discussions and testing efforts to solve complex challenges in robotics.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
  • 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
  • Experience as a mentor or tech lead for an engineering team
  • High level of proficiency with C/C++ and Python
  • Hands-on system experience with Linux, including device drivers and multicore systems
  • Proven experience diagnosing and debugging complex system issues
  • Hands-on experience with embedded or real-time operating systems
  • Experience with low level board bring-up or developing HAL code for custom hardware
  • Exposure to networking, communications systems, and data security
  • Understanding of RF and wireless communications, especially 802.11
  • Hands-on development with sensors such as cameras or 3DTOF sensors
  • Experience developing safety certified systems, especially with IEC 61508
  • Experience handling and analyzing large data sets and with AWS

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain novel robotic systems
  • Contribute to the architectural design of complex systems
  • Collaborate with peers and other teams to find solutions to challenging problems
  • Provide valuable feedback during peer reviews and communicate effectively with technical leadership
  • Engineer solutions that balance performance and reliability
  • Master various components including networking, security, and navigation
  • Participate in design discussions and brainstorm novel approaches to robotics problems
  • Write automated tests to validate newly created features
  • Conduct live testing to debug and root cause issues
