The Global Engineering Strategy team at AWS is seeking a data center engineer to lead engineering due diligence and design strategy for new site developments. This role involves collaborating with various internal teams to ensure high performance standards while innovating to reduce costs and increase efficiency. The engineer will work within the Design Engineering team of the Data Center Engineering organization, focusing on site selection, planning, and design execution. The position requires strong leadership and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

• 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission critical facilities such as data centers or power generation.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Professional Engineer License.
• Knowledge of continuously operating redundant electrical systems, cooling systems, and building management systems.
• Experience in carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment.
• Experience in reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings and specifications.

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders during the due diligence phase to oversee the design requirements.
• Gather data with internal teams to ensure prerequisites for the design stage are met.
• Lead the predesign phase, managing internal partners and external vendor consultants.
• Develop rollout strategies for new data center design types that impact site master plans.
• Provide engineering design decisions to partner teams for strategic planning.
• Collaborate with other teams to assess how various design types can be deployed for site development.
• Manage concurrent projects across multiple geographical regions.
• Communicate effectively with diverse technical backgrounds and leadership levels.
