The ECAD Application Development Engineer at Amazon Lab126 will play a crucial role in customizing and extending the Cadence suite of applications, including OrCAD and Allegro. This position is part of the Amazon Design Technologies team, which focuses on integrating AI and machine learning into engineering workflows. The engineer will be responsible for leading the functional design and support of ECAD applications while collaborating with various teams to enhance product development processes. This role combines hardware design with cutting-edge technology to transform engineering practices.

• 4+ years of software development experience
• Experience with Java and scripting languages like Perl, Python, Unix shell scripts, VBA, and MS Excel
• 3+ years of work experience with Electronic Design Automation tools
• Design experience using EDA tools such as OrCAD, System Capture, Allegro PCB, and Pulse PDM
• Development experience using SKILL and Tcl
• Fluency in AI, ML, and LLM technologies and their practical applications in software development and automation
• BS/MS degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience
• Experience with machine learning frameworks like AWS Bedrock, TensorFlow, or PyTorch
• Demonstrated ability to integrate AI capabilities into traditional engineering workflows

• Responsible for the maintenance and support of the Cadence suite of applications including OrCAD, Allegro, System Capture, and Pulse
• Design, develop, implement, and support Cadence extensions, features, and customizations
• Explore and implement AI/ML-powered features for intelligent design review, automated design generation, and design optimization
• Support, enhance, and develop integrations with PDM/PLM toolsets and workflows
• Develop custom OrCAD workflows and process automations
• Develop automations using Tcl/SKILL scripting
• Collaborate with AI/ML teams to integrate large language models and machine learning capabilities into ECAD workflows
• Provide subject matter expertise on the Cadence toolset and ECAD data management
• Diagnose and solve a range of issues including software deployment, platform interoperability, and EDA systems
• Interact with business customers to understand and document their business processes and requirements
• Create business requirements documents, system configuration documents, detailed functional design documents, test plans and test cases, user training documents, and implementation documents
