The ECAD Application Development Engineer role at Amazon Lab126 focuses on customizing and extending the Cadence suite of applications, including OrCAD and Allegro. • 1+ years of software development experience
• Experience with Java and scripting languages like Perl, Python, Unix shell scripts, VBA and MS Excel
• 1+ years of developing electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical (2010 or newer) experience
• Experience collaborating with the ECAD/physical board designer and able to review PCB designs with Allegro, CAM350, or equivalent
• BS degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
• Development experience using SKILL, Tcl
• Fluency in AI/ML/LLM technologies and their practical applications in software development and automation
• Experience with machine learning frameworks (AWS Bedrock, TensorFlow, PyTorch) or working with large language models
• Demonstrated ability to integrate AI capabilities into traditional engineering workflows

• Responsible for the maintenance and support of Cadence suite of applications (OrCAD, Allegro, System Capture, Pulse)
• Design, develop, implement and support Cadence extensions, features and customizations
• Explore and implement AI/ML-powered features for intelligent design review, automated design generation, and design optimization
• Support, enhance, and develop integrations with PDM/PLM toolsets and workflows
• Develop custom OrCAD workflows and process automations
• Develop automations using Tcl/SKILL scripting
• Collaborate with AI/ML teams to integrate large language models (LLMs) and machine learning capabilities into ECAD workflows
• Provide subject matter expertise on Cadence toolset and ECAD data management
• Diagnose and solve a range of issues, including software deployment, platform interoperability, EDA systems, installation and licensing
• Interact with business customers to understand and document their business processes and requirements
• Create business requirements documents, system configuration documents, detailed functional design documents, test plans and test cases, user training documents and implementation documents
