The Sr. Network Development Engineer will join the Network Fabric Engineering team at AWS, focusing on building, deploying, and scaling Amazon networks across global datacenters. This role involves collaborating with a diverse team of engineers and specialists to ensure the stability and sustainability of next-generation IP networks. The engineer will create network designs and deployment procedures while predicting and solving potential problems. The position emphasizes an inclusive culture that values bold ideas and empowers team members to take ownership of their projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or above in computer science or equivalent.
- 8+ years of experience in IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience in the application of IP protocols.
- 8+ years of experience with major internet routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, MPLS, RSVP, and ISIS in a large enterprise environment.
- 8+ years of experience working with major network operating systems such as Cisco IOS and/or Junos.
- 3+ years of experience with Unix/Linux skills and the ability to script in Python, Perl, or shell.
- A Masters in Computer Science, MBA, or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Senior or Lead Engineer experience at other organizations.
- Expert-level certifications such as CCIE or JNCIE are a plus.
- Expert-level scripting and automation skills in a network environment are required.
- Software development or programming skills are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Create network designs, services, and deployment procedures that meet various requirements.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to decide on projects that support the team's mission.
- Design ahead of customer or technology needs, predicting and solving for potential problems.
- Create and defend High Level Design (HLD) and Low Level Design (LLD) documents.
- Work with internal stakeholders to influence technology roadmaps.
- Construct and test solutions while providing support to deployment and operations teams.
- Automate deployment processes to increase quality and velocity.
- Manage customer interactions during problem resolution while operating efficiently under pressure.
