Job description

As an Amazon Critical Infrastructure Engineer, you will provide full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers, ensuring they meet customer needs while maintaining high standards for safety and security. You will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers and specialists to troubleshoot issues, develop innovative solutions, and lead engineering audits. This role requires a mix of office and field work, allowing you to engage directly with data center operations and construction projects. You will be instrumental in driving improvements in capacity, availability, and efficiency across AWS's global infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • Valid and active driver's license
  • Experience prioritizing and handling multiple assignments while maintaining commitment to deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication abilities
  • Experience using a variety of web-based and other software tools for calculation and data processing
  • Coursework in commercial/industrial mechanical systems
  • Possess leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Possess data analytics skills and comfort with working in vast amounts of data

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for site and equipment failures.
  • Directly support operational issues with ad-hoc training and complex operating procedure reviews.
  • Own the conceptual design for existing data center upgrades and design solutions.
  • Interface with internal teams to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability.
  • Develop innovative solutions for AWS's data centers.
  • Work on concurrent projects across multiple geographical regions.
  • Initiate and lead engineering audits, producing reports with risks and recommended mitigations.
  • Act as resident engineer during new construction projects, supporting construction and commissioning.
