Job description

As a Regional Environmental Engineer at AWS, you will ensure environmental compliance at data centers in Missouri. You will develop standards and policies to support regulatory compliance while fostering an environmentally responsible culture within the organization. The role involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including government entities and contractors, to implement Amazon's environmental standards. This position is based in New Florence, MO, and requires travel throughout the state.

Requirements

  • Experience developing and implementing environmental compliance programs including regulated waste, water, and air regulations in accordance with applicable laws.
  • 5+ years of regulatory and risk management experience.
  • BA/BS degree in chemistry, chemical or environmental engineering, or related field of study.
  • Broad knowledge of US environmental regulations.
  • Experience leading change in multiple site environments and influencing those that are not direct reports or within your organization.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic organization.
  • Experience managing multiple projects, prioritizing, planning, and managing time.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee compliance with environmental regulations and Amazon policy.
  • Drive an environmentally responsible culture within the organization.
  • Ensure work performed by contractors, consultants, and employees is completed in accordance with Amazon standards.
  • Develop environmental metrics to measure, monitor, and forecast performance.
  • Conduct thorough and accurate environmental audits for continuous improvement.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple technically complex assignments concurrently.
  • Represent Amazon at appropriate levels with governmental agencies and throughout the company.
  • Build collaborative relationships with various stakeholders to ensure risks are identified early and managed appropriately.
  • Assist in time-critical report submission to various governmental agencies.
  • Complete thorough and accurate environmental incident investigations and associated regulatory reports and develop appropriate corrective action.
